Merge PDF files
Free, private and fast: everything runs in your browser and your PDF files are never uploaded.
Why merge PDF files
Job applications, insurance claims, tax returns and project reports often have to be sent as a single PDF, while the parts come from different places: a cover letter, a CV, certificates, scanned receipts. Add the PDFs here, arrange them in the right order and get one combined document. Pages are copied exactly as they are, including text that can be selected and searched, links, and the original page sizes. The merging happens in your browser with pdf-lib, so personal documents never leave your computer and there is no watermark or page limit.
How to merge PDF files
- Drop two or more PDF files in the box, or click to choose them.
- Use the arrows to put the files in the order you want.
- Click Merge PDFs and download merged.pdf.
What changes when you convert
Order is by file
Files are added one after another in the order of the list, with all pages of each file. To move single pages between documents, first split the files into the parts you need.
Mixed page sizes are kept
An A4 document and a US Letter document keep their own page sizes in the merged file. Readers and printers handle this fine, but a print shop may ask for one size.
Text and links survive
Pages are copied, not turned into images, so text stays selectable and searchable and the file stays small. Bookmarks and the table of contents of the original files are not carried over.
Forms and signatures
Filled-in form fields keep their values, but a digital signature is no longer valid after merging, because the signed document has changed. Merge first and sign the combined file.
Password-protected PDFs
Encrypted PDFs cannot be merged. Remove the password in your PDF reader by saving a copy without protection, then add that copy.
About the formats
PDF (Portable Document Format) was created by Adobe in 1993 and has been an ISO standard since 2008. A PDF looks the same on every device, which is why it is used for contracts, invoices, forms, manuals and scanned documents.
- A page can hold text, vector graphics and images, each placed exactly.
- Scanned documents are usually one image per page.
- A PDF can be protected with a password that is needed to open or edit it.
Frequently asked questions
Are my PDF files uploaded?
No. The files are merged by your browser on your own device and never sent to a server.
Is there a limit on files or pages?
No fixed limit. Your browser's memory sets the practical limit, which is usually far above a few hundred pages.
Does merging reduce the quality?
No. Pages are copied unchanged, so text, vector graphics and images keep their original quality.
Will there be a watermark?
No. The merged PDF contains only your pages.
